FPI Says PDIP Candidates Use Rizieq to Reach Election Votes

Poros Pos. Spokesperson for the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Slamet Maarif said the legislative candidates from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) deliberately used Rizieq Shihab to win the votes for the 2019 election.

This responds to the installation of Rizieq photos on posters or props for digital campaigns belonging to PDIP candidates in the Electoral District of Cilegon, Evi Silvi Yunatul Hayati.

According to Slamet, Silvi has apologized for the use of Rizieq's photo on his campaign billboard. He said this case had been handled by FPI in Banten.

"I have apologized to him. This shows that HRS has a tremendous influence to the point that they are using it to vote by public lying," Slamet said on Tuesday (1/8).

The man who also serves as General Chair of the Alumni Brotherhood 212 also emphasized that Rizieq Shihab would not support PDIP candidates. Because, his party considered the party led by Megawati Sukarnoputri as a defender of religious opponents.

"HRS will not support PDIP candidates anywhere and anyone," said Slamet.

Silvi previously considered Rizieq Shihab as a unifying figure, especially in the case of dragging the name of former DKI Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok to prison.

"I, as a Muslim, we need a great figure, who can unite us differently. The fact that 212 from the Ahok case we find at that time was the union [Rizieq]," Silvi said on Monday (7/1).

He denied the installation of Rizieq's photo to get votes from supporters of Prabowo Subianto's presidential candidate. Rizieq himself supported Prabowo as a presidential candidate in the 2019 Election.

While Silvi claimed to have his own supporters in the Cilegon electoral district. So far, he has been a candidate three times, namely the Regional Representative Council (DPD) candidates, DPR candidates from the Hanura Party, and DPR candidates from the NasDem Party.

Regarding the installation of Rizieq's photo on his campaign poster, Silvi claimed to have been visited by a number of individuals from FPI. They asked Silvi to delete Rizieq's picture because it was considered insulting the cleric.

Silvi said that the FPI was even berating, threatening to criminalize and look for his residence.

"So this photo they asked to delete at that time, I deleted it. I was threatened with death if the photo was not deleted. So I delete it now," Silvi said.
